Step 1: You have to be sure that your window sill or window casing has space to accommodate an inside mount. Cranks or handles on your window casing decrease available space for those cheap blinds to hand. However, if you find that the space is not enough, you can go for an outside mount.

Step 2: Check if the blind’s outer edge is flush. Sometimes there is enough space for the mount but what if your cheap blinds protrude? If it looks too weird, your measurement may require an outside mount to cover that.

Step 5: Do a regular measure. The width of your window’s top, bottom and center should be measured when you are looking to get an inside mount.

Step 6: Get the inside height if you are doing an inside mount, an outside one if you are using the other method. Do a measurement with the right, the center and the left. After that get the longest measurement and that is what you should give to the guys at the shop.

Step 7: Special instructions. If you need cutouts for your air conditioning, measure this one and give a diagram so that they boys or girls at the shop will know where the cut out should be.
